I& 039 m 29 years old, have bad credit due to the traditional poor decisions in my early 20s, as well as the IT industry volatility in the last decade in other words, i got axed a lot . Now I am with a stable company that has long term prospects, have very little debt under $5K and pull in a decent amount of money A shade under 70K pre tax . I have, unfortunately, gone through a foreclosure in 2004, and due to a job loss last year my recent credit isn& 039 t that great. Now that all that& 039 s out of the way..My car is failing me. I have had it for almost 11 years, and it& 039 s time to get a new one. I don& 039 t want a junker, I want something that will last and be reliable. I don& 039 t want to put $2000 into a car that wont last a year. Unfortunately that means i& 039 d need a loan. What& 039 s the likelihood of me getting a loan in the short term next six months .. would a large down payment make any difference at all? I& 039 m talking horrible credit here, though it& 039 s very slowly getting better. I figure with the recent economic turmoil some lenders may have special programs for those trying to get back on their feet. I& 039 m a big guy so would need something larger than a compact, but by no means do i need an explorer or hummer or something similar something the size of a Dodge RAM, F150 or Honda Accord & 039 fits& 039 me. unfortunately im just too tall and wide for a lot of the other stuff out there.Do i have any hope? Or will I be the only person in my income bracket forever stuck with an ancient, unreliable car becaues nobody will finance anything for me?

I don& 039 t have great credit, and my & 039 99 Ford Ranger is slowly deteriorating. As soon as it dies I& 039 m going to have a hard time making it places around town without borrowing my parent& 039 s cars. I was reading CNN.com today and saw that through a stimulus package the government is offering a FULL tax credit on a low speed top 25 mph electric car. However, I would need to purchase it before December 31st, 2009 in order to qualify for the tax credit. Unfortunately, while at college I made some poor financial decisions and am left with sub par credit. Is there any way to get this vehicle in this short amount of time? I think it would be great to have an environment friendly car like that and depending on the leg work I& 039 m prepared to do the homework necessary to obtain one. Any ideas or directions?If you go to the front page you& 039 ll see that the tax credit they& 039 re offering is for the sales price of the electric car. I& 039 m not really sure what the first two responses have to do the with the situation.

ok heres the deal, everyone says. dont use a loan shark they can loan you alot of money but they want double payment of the amount or what not. but what can you do when you need alot of money asap?? prosper.com? nope, tried it. when you set up your account you have to enter you ssn. and it said im sorry your credit is too low to use our service. file bankruptcy? nope. costs money to file bankruptcy, which is the problem to start with. i dont have any money. not to mention bankruptcy takes a long time and even longer before you can be approved for a loan. so im back to square one. how do i find a loan shark, its not like i can just put an add in the newspaper.
